Mumbai's AC local train is likely to be split. Railway top bosses, Minister for Railways Piyush Goyal and Railway Board Chairman Ashwani Lohani, on a Mumbai visit on Friday, hinted that the AC train with high fares could be split into two classes - an affordable one for the common man and an expensive higher class.
They, however, added that the city, henceforth, would get only AC locals and 250-odd trains would be manufactured. The announcement comes following grumbling of "high" and "unaffordable" AC local fare by commuters. "The splitting up is an idea, and the local railways has been asked to work on it, so that a proposal can be finalised," Lohani told the media.

When all the coaches are airconditioned and most of the paxs shall be travelling in standing mode rather than sitting, the so called common common class shall be akin to normal fare ac coach and the so called higher class coach as a "Suvidha" or "Premium Tatkal" coach probaly costing costing a few times higher.
